MediciGlobal Streamlines Operations
MediciGlobal predicts that 2009 will be a good year for its industry and the company.
Philadelphia, London: January 21, 2009: MediciGlobal announces the trimming of its workforce. The decision was based on several factors:
The closure of several global multi-year studies, resulting from the decision by a major pharmaceutical client to suspend the sale of its prescription drug internationally, and cease its clinical development program in the U.S. and abroad.
The introduction and adoption by MediciGlobal of several novel Web-based systems is reducing the need for certain non strategic positions. These Web-based proprietary systems streamline the manpower needed to develop and manage patient recruitment and retention programs. These systems include several online management portals; one for clinical research sites (www.StudyCoordinator.net) and another for study sponsors (www.StudySponsor.net). Additionally, eighteen months ago, MediciGlobal unveiled its ADapt® system which is being expanded in use. ADapt eliminates several intensive manual steps in the design process of clinical study program materials, allowing study sponsors to customize and expedite the launch of global patient recruitment and retention programs, shortening timelines by over a month per country.
Despite the economy, MediciGlobal predicts that 2009 will be a good year for its industry and the company. According to Liz Moench, MediciGlobal’s President and CEO, “One can read about biotech companies that have failed because they did not execute integrated patient recruitment and retention programs. As a result, the study missed critical timelines, did not meet retention goals and ran out of money. In today’s economy, biopharmaceutical companies are realizing even more than before, that they cannot wait to see what happens with patient recruitment and retention; they have to be proactive and control their destiny and use companies like ours. In streamlining our company we are doing the same!”
“We are streamlining and automating processes to save money and time for our clients,” says Moench. “In looking ahead and planning for 2009, we want to ensure that our team of over 30 professionals is nimble, efficient and effectively working to focus on results for our clients.” She adds that “In the past several years we have invested extensively in Information Technology. In fact, we are the only firm specializing in patient recruitment and retention to rank among leading companies for the 2008 Bio IT awards.”
