MediciGlobal is Adopting Pigs in Support of Kids with Cancer

Patient Recruitment and Retention Firm Supports Organizations Focused on Children and their Families Affected by Cancer

Philadelphia, US and London, UK – Patient recruitment and retention company, MediciGlobal, is adopting pigs this holiday season. Not real pigs of course, but the ones that hold money! Each “pig” is hand painted and decorated by Pediatric cancer patients and survivors, and are being displayed throughout MediciGlobal’s corporate offices.

“We are adopting pigs (piggy banks) as part of our commitment to children with cancer. Adopt a Pig is a program designed to help children and their families cope as they face their greatest challenge, fighting cancer” said MediciGlobal President & CEO, Liz Moench.

Every day MediciGlobal employees work to inform patients about clinical trial opportunities specific to their medical condition. This holiday season MediciGlobal employees wanted to consider other ways of helping patients, and in particular children. In lieu of sending greeting cards, the team at MediciGlobal decided to make donations to organizations dedicated to helping children and families with cancer. In addition to Adopt a Pig, the company has earmarked support for two other organizations; Conkerr Cancer and the Happily Ever After League (HEAL).

“With our dedication to advancing awareness for pediatric and oncology clinical trials, the organizations we selected to support are a natural fit with our client’s projects and our corporate mission,” said MediciGlobal President & CEO, Liz Moench.  “MediciGlobal is in the business of helping companies bring new medicines to market.  But the reality is that this process takes a long time and we often don’t see results for years.  We wanted to balance our work in clinical research with other initiatives that can make a difference in the lives of others, and where more immediate results are evident.”

Conkerr Cancer recruits volunteers from all over the world to sew cheerful pillowcases for sick children in hospitals.  So far, it has delivered 110,000 pillowcases to sick children across the world.  Adopt a Pig provides coping mechanisms to children fighting cancer and their families.  The founders of this program experienced cancer treatments firsthand and hope this program will work to ease some of the struggle and pain associated with this emotional and physical battle.  The Happily Ever After League provides support services such as meal delivery, housekeeping, and assistance with medical and travel costs to mothers diagnosed with cancer.

MediciGlobal has many employees who are personally and professionally connected to cancer. It makes our patient focused work even more meaningful when we get involved in supporting worthy causes such as the three we selected this year,” said Kathryn Martin, Patient Advocacy Manager at MediciGlobal.  She adds that “past studies have shown that a company’s community involvement boosts employee morale and loyalty.  We hope MediciGlobal’s contributions can also bring smiles to many children and their families affected by cancer this holiday season.”
