MediciGlobal, a Global Leader in Patient Recruitment, Expands UK-based Team

Experienced industry executive will further develop the use of internet and pharmaceutical marketing techniques to optimise international patient recruitment programmes

King of Prussia, PA, January 13, 2010 – Reaching patients and informing them about clinical trials is a dynamic and changing process. As clinical trials expand into new markets and regulations change, knowledgeable professionals with experience of working in challenging environments are becoming increasingly important to clinical trials and patient recruitment success. MediciGlobal is therefore pleased to welcome Duncan Shaw to its EU office, to join the dynamic team of international patient recruitment specialists.

As an Account Director, Shaw will be working on many global studies, helping to develop new and innovative recruitment methods and retention programmes. He brings a wealth of experience to MediciGlobal, having previously worked on campaigns in Western, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australasia. He is therefore acutely sensitive to cultural nuances and how they influence patient-centric marketing strategies in different countries. Shaw firmly supports MediciGlobal’s ‘glocal’ approach to patient recruitment-retention, which he believes reflects the importance of global thinking with local implementation.

“Duncan is a great addition to our team,” said Liz Moench, CEO of MediciGlobal. “We are looking forward to applying his skills and global knowledge to provide the highest level of service to our pharmaceutical clients.”

Shaw joins MediciGlobal with over 13 years of medically related marketing communications. This includes 8 years of product marketing, including the management of a number of educational and promotional websites for healthcare professionals and representatives, and 5 years of scientific and medical publishing. Duncan’s marketing and publishing experience positions him well to develop patient recruitment programmes and oversee the writing, design and publishing of supporting patient education materials.

Shaw studied mathematics and statistics at Royal Holloway University of London in England, but with a keen interest in writing and communications, he chose to pursue a career in medical marketing, subsequently gaining a professional diploma in marketing from the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing.
